Energy is Your Leadership Currency
Just like your smartphone can’t run without a charge, you can’t lead well when you’re running on fumes. Science calls it decision fatigue. Every email, every Slack ping, every “Where’s that file?” drains your mental battery.
If you don’t protect your energy, you can’t prioritize. You can’t connect. You can’t lead.
Harold realized this the hard way. He told me, “Velma, I know what I want now. But I don’t have the energy to live it.” Yikes!
That’s when we made three powerful shifts together that helped him rebuild his energy… and his leadership presence.
3 Shifts to Rebuild Your Energy Like Harold Did
#1. He Scheduled Energy, Not Just Tasks… Harold stopped trying to cram 12 hourse into an 8-hour day. Instead, he created ‘performance cycles’:
→ 90 minutes of focused work + 15 minutes of recovery (walk, snack (a healthy one), stretch).
He also discovered his “power hours” - the times when his brain was sharpest - and fiercely protected them.

#2. He Traded Late-Night Netflix for Deep Sleep Rituals… No more emails after 7pm. (crazy, I know). Slack and Instant Message? On Do Not Disturb. Notifications? Turned off. Phone? Left outside the bedroom. (Yep. You can do that too).
He replaced screens with breathing, journaling, or a warm shower. He revived an old hobby that gave him energy - wood-working.
The result? He slept deeper. Woke up clearer. And walked into his day already ahead.
Your Move: 📌 Try this: Power down your screens an hour before bed. Choose a wind-down routine that tells your body: “It’s safe to rest.” And reclaim your passion for that hobby you love so much, but lost in the hustle.
#3. He Built a Recharge Ritual… Lunch wasn’t a drive-thru anymore. It became a chance a step outside, breathe, and listen to music.
Harold also created “white space” - 15-minute breaks between meetings to reset, reflect, and recalibrate. On weekends, he added play back into the mix: bike rides, board games, fire pits, and yes, wood-working.
